To everyone who has planned to participate in the EcoFaith Summit, Now the Green Blade Rises: the Easter Gospel for the Whole Creation:
Given the many measures necessary to slow the spread of the coronavirus, the March 28 EcoFaith Summit has been canceled for this spring.
This was a difficult decision. We especially regret missing the leadership of youth and young adults who had committed to being our speakers and helping to lead some of the break-out sessions.
At the EcoFaith Network leadership team's upcoming conference call later this week, we will begin mapping out where we will go from here, and how we can continue nurturing the green blades rising, listening to our young leaders and climate activists, and raising a grassroots movement among the people of God.
In earth's distress (including the current distress of a pandemic) we sing the promise of renewal. The Green Blade of Christ rises from buried grain. Love comes again like wheat arising green. Not locked in what was or could have been, but now.
Let's keep our ears and our eyes close to the earth, close to the melody of Resurrection over death, and our imaginations open to what could be next.
The EcoFaith Network holds an annual EcoFaith Summit to bring God’s people together to encourage, enlighten, and engage each other in God’s movement of healing and renewal for the whole earth creation.
Through worship, speakers, breakout sessions, and networking opportunities, the spring EcoFaith Summit is energizing earth stewards among churches not only in the northeastern Minnesota Synod but throughout the upper Midwest.
This year’s EcoFaith Summit takes its theme from the Easter hymn Now the Green Blade Rises (ELW #379) and focuses on how the Easter Gospel for the whole creation is stirring a grassroots movement in congregations, young leaders, and communities.
