Mental Health Resources
Tending to mental health issues among teenagers and their families can be overwhelming for youth ministry leaders. What is our role? How do we care for youth who are struggling? How do we respond when young people attempt or die by suicide? How do we do faith formation in the midst of depression, anxiety, ADHD, addictions and other issues that impact behavior and emotions? What are safe practices? What resources are available?
These are real and complex issues, and we need to begin talking about them seriously as a faith community. This coming year we will begin conversations as a synod around mental health and how leaders and the church can care for those in need. This is only the beginning of conversations...and the beginning of working together to know we are not alone in this vital ministry with young people and their families.
