Renewing the Promise
A Campaign for the Northeastern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA

Picture
Always Being Made New: The Campaign for the ELCA was approved in August 2013 by theChurchwide Assembly. The five-year fundraising effort, the ELCA's first comprehensive campaign, seeks to raise $198 million in support of new and expanded churchwide ministries above and beyond those supported by your regular weekly offerings.
Through several major goals and priorities, the campaign seeks to:
  • Renew and begin new congregations
  • End poverty and hunger, and overcome malaria
  • Identify, train and support new leaders and engage young people in the life of this church
  • Expand the ELCA's disability ministries
  • Grow this church's capacity to serve globally, support ELCA missionaries and women leaders among global companion churches.

RENEWING THE PROMISE
At the 2015 Synod Assembly, the Northeastern Minnesota Synod of the ELCA voted overwhelmingly to support the Always Being Made New: The Campaign for the ELCA and set a goal of $1 million from our Synod.Voting members at the assembly also approved a parallel campaign to strengthen the unique ministries of the Northeastern Minnesota Synod. Renewing the Promise, The Synod Campaign, seeks to raise $200,000 to support 5 main priority areas within the synod, including:
  • Our relationship and ministries with our global Companion Synods:
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ingria in Russia,
The South Andhra Lutheran Church in India
The Iglesia Cristiana Luterana Church de Honduras
  • Lutheran Campus Ministry at University of Minnesota-Duluth
  • The Twin Ports Ministry to Seafarers
  • The School of Lay Ministry of the NEMN Synod
  • Seminarian Scholarships and the Seminarian Debt Relief Fund

"I feel called to give beyond my offering to my  congregation each week. Beckie and I encourage and challenge you to join us by choosing  to support the specific ministries our synod does for sailors,  college campus students, Seminarians from our synod, our partner churches in India, Honduras and Russia, or undergirding the School of Lay Ministry. Perhaps one of these Northeastern Mn Synod ministries is close to your heart as well. We wrote our check out to the synod, and earmarked it "Renewing the Promise" which covers them all, but could choose yours specifically." -Bishop Tom Aitken
