Koinonia: A Theological Partnership
"You will be my witnesses . . . to the ends of the earth"
(Acts 1:8)
"Who is my neighbor?"
(Luke 10:29)
God has opened a significant door for this Synod to share in a thelolgical partnership with our new companion synod in Honduras, Iglesia Cristiana Luterana de Honduras. We have been invited to participate in leadership development retreats with the pastors and lay leaders of the worshiping communities of ICLH. In two retreats each year we will journey together in worship and Bible study through the rhythms of the church year. The spiritual development of the pastors and lay leaders has been identified as the number one priority of ICLH by Rev. Armindo Schmechel, president of ICLH. Teams of clergy and lay teachers and musicians are needed for fall and spring retreats on an ongoing basis. Serving as team member will provide an opportunity for significant ministry, but will also deeply move one's heart, spirit, and vision. We also stand in need of funding for the materials needed (Bibles and hymnals) for retreats, as well as for travel expenses for participants from both Honduras and Minnesota. Please pray about ways you can participate in this exciting ministry!
